No cartoon characters on children's sweets?

Childhood obesity has become one of the serious public health problems in Australia.
An Australian civil society group, the obesity policy alliance, has submitted a report calling for a ban on the use of cartoons on cereal and sweet food products for children.
The senate committee is scheduled to consider the report in August.
Obesity policy alliance called for in the "obesity epidemic" report, to encourage a healthy diet, advice on children sweets package shall be forbidden to use children as cartoon characters, such as Kellogg's sweet corn chips on the package of Tony the tiger, colorful grain nutrition cheerios toucan Sam on the packaging, cocoa breakfast cereal monkey on the package, etc.
Jane Martin, executive director of the obesity policy alliance, said: 'children are sometimes drawn into supermarkets by the packaging.
A survey by the obesity policy alliance found that 60 per cent of children's food packaged with cartoon images contained more sugar than Australian health authorities recommend (no more than 15 grams per 100 grams) - 30 of the 41 breakfast cereals in the survey were high in sugar.
